Idyllic Surroudings for this TinyMobileRobot

Field maintenance, particularly line marking, can be a labour-intensive task, demanding significant time and resources throughout the year to align with changing seasonal schedules. Traditionally, this process was tedious and costly, requiring an external contractor to come in and mark the lines. Recognising the need for efficiency and cost-effectiveness, Cambridge FC invested in a TinyMobileRobot Linemarker.

In mid-2022, the club approached Perennial Sport & Turf to purchase a TinyMobileRobot, a decision that revolutionised their maintenance practices. Matt Malligan, Club Secretary, praised the investment, “it allows us to do all our line marking inhouse without the need for an external contractor to mark the lines” further stating “it’s efficient, reliable and cheaper. I can leave it to it and carry on with other things that need my attention.”

One of the standout advantages of the TinyMobileRobot, as highlighted by Malligan, is the absence of needing to mark lines on the weekends or holidays when there are no games scheduled. Unlike the previous system, which required manual line marking during these times, the Tiny Mobile Robot Linemaker’s GPS technology ensures consistent and precise markings without the need for constant supervision. Malligan emphasised, “It’s a massive positive that the lines are always there in a GPS format, and initial setup is so much quicker. We aren’t wasting paint on fields which aren’t being used.”

When asked about the club’s experience with working with the Perennial team Malligan praised their responsiveness, stating, “we can essentially call them at any time, and someone will give us an answer pretty quickly”.
